USS Kidd Veterans Museum, Baton Rouge, LA.
Here is an opportunity to board a U.S. Navy WWII-era “tin can” destroyer and see what life was like for sailors during the day. A battle-weary veteran of the Pacific War, the USS Kidd saw action in Tarawa, the Marshall Islands, and Okinawa before she was hit by a kamikaze. After repairs she continued to serve until she was decommissioned and moored here. Restored to her WWII colors and configuration, she opened for tours in 1983. Her guns still work (alas they ceased firing them some years ago) and her interior compartments are top notch.
